ISLAMABAD: Hollywood star Dakota Johnson has candidly called out the current state of the film industry, saying it\u2019s \u201ca bit of a mess\u201d due to a growing disconnect between decision-makers and actual creativity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 35-year-old actress made the remarks during an appearance on Sean Evans\u2019s popular interview show Hot Ones<\/em>, while promoting her latest A24 romcom, The Materialists<\/em>.<\/p>\n

She expressed frustration over how creative decisions are often driven by corporate interests rather than passion for cinema.<\/p>\n

Too Many Remakes, Too Little Vision<\/h3>\n

Johnson noted that the industry is plagued by risk-averse behavior, with executives approving endless remakes rather than original stories.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen something does well, studios want to keep that going so they remake the same things,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut humans don\u2019t want that. They want fresh, they want to feel new things, experience new things, see new things.\u201d<\/p>\n

She called this trend \u201ca mess\u201d and suggested that real creativity is getting lost in the shuffle.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on Madame Web and Razzie \u2018Honor\u2019<\/h3>\n

Johnson also addressed her critically panned 2024 superhero film Madame Web<\/em>, calling it a project that \u201cstarted out as something and turned into something else.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said the final product was the result of creative decisions made by people with \u201cno creative bone in their body.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite receiving the Razzie Award for Worst Actress, Johnson took the moment in stride, revealing a supportive message from Sandra Bullock, who welcomed her into the \u201cRazzie Club.\u201d<\/p>\n
