{"id":3010,"date":"2025-06-16T08:25:55","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T03:25:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/youdigital.pk\/en\/?p=3010"},"modified":"2025-06-16T20:34:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T15:34:09","slug":"germany-france-uk-offer-urgent-talks-with-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2day.pk\/en\/2025\/06\/16\/germany-france-uk-offer-urgent-talks-with-iran","title":{"rendered":"Germany, France, UK Offer Urgent Talks with Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"134\" data-end=\"951\"><strong>ISLAMABAD: German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announced that Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are prepared to begin immediate negotiations with Iran aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"134\" data-end=\"951\">Speaking during a televised interview on Saturday, Wadephul emphasized the urgent need for diplomacy amid the ongoing military exchanges between Israel and Iran.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"134\" data-end=\"951\">He said the three European powers are ready to engage Tehran over its nuclear programme, which remains at the core of the conflict.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"134\" data-end=\"951\">\u201cI hope that\u2019s still possible,\u201d Wadephul told Germany\u2019s ARD broadcaster, adding that past opportunities for constructive talks were missed by Iran.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"134\" data-end=\"951\">\u201cThis is also a key prerequisite for pacifying this conflict\u2014ensuring that Iran presents no threat to the region, to Israel, or to Europe,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"953\" data-end=\"991\">Call for Immediate De-escalation<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1607\">Wadephul is currently on a diplomatic mission in the Middle East, including a stop in Oman, a key hub for backchannel negotiations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1607\">He stressed that lasting peace will only be possible if both Iran and Israel come under coordinated international pressure.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1607\">\u201cThere\u2019s a shared expectation that within the next week, both sides must make a serious attempt to interrupt this spiral of violence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1607\">When asked whether regime change in Iran was likely or intended, Wadephul responded that it did not appear to be Israel\u2019s objective.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1607\">He reiterated that preventing a wider regional war is the top priority.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1609\" data-end=\"1644\">Humanitarian Concerns in Gaza<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"2178\">Addressing the dire conditions in Gaza, Wadephul urged Israel to allow unrestricted access to humanitarian aid groups.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"2178\">He called the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave \u201cunacceptable\u201d and emphasized the need for immediate international response.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"2178\">\u201cThe hunger, the dying, the suffering of the people in Gaza must come to an end,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"2178\">Wadephul placed blame for the outbreak of the conflict on Hamas, and reiterated that the militant group must release all hostages taken during the October 2023 raids on Israel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announced that Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are prepared to begin immediate negotiations with Iran aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.
