{"id":2988,"date":"2025-06-13T16:57:49","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T11:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/youdigital.pk\/en\/?p=2988"},"modified":"2025-06-13T10:13:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T05:13:17","slug":"armed-forces-to-receive-special-relief-allowance-in-new-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2day.pk\/en\/2025\/06\/13\/armed-forces-to-receive-special-relief-allowance-in-new-budget","title":{"rendered":"Armed Forces to Receive Special Relief Allowance in New Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"144\" data-end=\"624\"><strong>ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance informed the National Assembly\u2019s Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue on Thursday that armed forces personnel will be granted a special relief allowance in the upcoming fiscal year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"144\" data-end=\"624\">Officers are to receive 50 percent of their basic salary as allowance, while junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and soldiers will get 20 percent.<br data-start=\"514\" data-end=\"517\" \/>However, the ministry did not disclose the exact financial impact of these allowances during the session.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"626\" data-end=\"671\">Budget Adjustments and Economic Outlook<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"1426\">Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal revealed that the public sector development programme (PSDP) for the current year has been revised down from Rs1.1 trillion to Rs967 billion.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"1426\">Only Rs662 billion has been spent so far, raising concerns among lawmakers that further reductions could affect growth estimates and other economic indicators.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"1426\">Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb expressed optimism that the central bank\u2019s policy rate would drop to single digits by the end of this year, citing improved inflation and fiscal accounts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"1426\">He also confirmed Pakistan expects approximately $1 billion in foreign inflows before the fiscal year closes, supported by guarantees from the Asian Development Bank, which will help bolster foreign exchange reserves.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1428\" data-end=\"1474\">Revenue, Levies, and Development Funding<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1966\">The petroleum development levy (PDL) will see an increase, with diesel and petrol levies set to rise by Rs2.5 per litre due to a new carbon levy, pushing average rates to Rs80 per litre.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1966\">BISP allocations will increase by 21 percent to Rs716 billion, while grants for Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and merged tribal districts have also been raised.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1966\">Concerns over tax-to-GDP ratio, revenue shortfalls, taxes on solar panels, and structural reforms were also raised during the session.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance informed the National Assembly\u2019s Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue on Thursday that armed forces personnel will be granted a special relief allowance in the upcoming fiscal year.
