ISLAMABAD: Karachi police have arrested a man identified as Salman Farooqi, along with two of his employees, following a viral video showing the assault of a citizen in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The incident, which took place on Khayaban-i-Ittehad road, involved Farooqi allegedly beating a bike rider who was accompanied by a woman after a minor traffic accident.<\/p>\n

Details of the Incident and Police Response<\/h3>\n

According to Karachi South Deputy Inspector General Syed Asad Raza, the suspect was apprehended from DHA, and his luxury vehicle was impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

The victim was reportedly held hostage at gunpoint inside the suspect\u2019s vehicle before being physically assaulted and verbally abused.<\/p>\n

The woman accompanying the bike rider also faced aggression when she tried to intervene but was pushed back.<\/p>\n

Despite the victim not formally approaching the police, authorities are actively trying to contact his family.<\/p>\n

The Gizri police have registered an FIR against Farooqi, his armed guard, and driver under several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, threat to cause grievous hurt, wrongful confinement, and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace.<\/p>\n

DIG Raza emphasized that the police are treating the matter with utmost seriousness and assured that justice will be served without exception.<\/p>\n

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar and Karachi Additional IG Javed Alam Odho have both instructed senior police officials to submit a detailed report and take strict action against the accused.<\/p>\n

They reiterated that no individual is above the law and that the government is committed to protecting citizens from such abuses.<\/p>\n

This incident follows similar cases of road rage and public violence reported in other cities, underscoring ongoing challenges in ensuring public safety and accountability.<\/p>\n
